How to stay sane – and solvent – between Thanksgiving and New Year’s

Grab your advent calendar; the holiday season is fast approaching! As you’re sipping mulled wine, eggnog, or hot chocolate, you’re probably thinking about how to promote your business in these uncertain and distracting times. Here are a few tips for getting the word out during the holidays.

Adjust your promotion to the season. Perhaps longer hours are needed to avoid large gatherings and queues? If there’s a lull in business, think of how to celebrate your customers and keep them engaged. What can you offer your lists? Flash sales? Special offers? Think about what could entice your customers.

Go with the flow. Build special holiday-related content for your business’s website and social media. Perhaps you can share a holiday gift guide for people from your industry? Share some favorite employee recipes? Treat your website and mailings like messages from a friend.

Send out personalized holiday cards to your faithful customers. While bombarding your customers with emails is all good and dandy, finding a holiday card in your post box is always heartwarming. With personalized best wishes, and perhaps a special promo code, it’s bound to put a smile on your customer’s face, and hopefully some extra revenue your way.

And don’t forget about your workers; they’ve worked tirelessly and deserve praise. Where possible, continue remote work so that they’re safe. Think of alternatives to the traditional Christmas office parties. Perhaps organize a Zoom party, and send everyone a holiday gift basket.

Keep your spirits up, and don’t let the pandemic ruin this special season!
